Leadership at Beit Haverim/South Metro Jewish Congregation

Both the congregation and Religious School at Beit Haverim/South Metro Jewish Congregation are led by Rabbi Annette Koch. She can be reached at rabbikoch@beithav.org.

A native of New York City, Rabbi Koch received her Bachelor’s degree from The City College of the City University of New York, and her law degree from New York Law School. After working as an attorney for 18 years, and with her son out of college and embarking on his own life’s journey, Rabbi Koch was finally able to fulfill a dream of many years. In 2001 she was accepted into the rabbinical program at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. In 2005 she received a Masters Degree in Hebrew Literature, and she was ordained in New York in 2006.

Rabbi Koch brings to her rabbinate many years of congregational leadership, especially in the areas of ritual and long-range planning. In addition, before her ordination, Rabbi Koch served several congregations and organizations, including the Union for Reform Judaism. She also worked as a chaplain for Jewish Family Services of Union County, New Jersey, and for the Center for Hope Hospice. The wide variety of experience she gained from these positions convinced Rabbi Koch that she had indeed made the right decision when she left behind a profession she enjoyed to do the work her heart was called to do.
